BMW Charity Pro-Am Opens 2021 Volunteer Registration Opens
Friday, December 18th, 2020
South Carolina Charities, Inc. has announced the launch of volunteer registration for the 2021 BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation online at BMWCharityGolf.com. The 2021 tournament will take place June 7-13 at Thornblade Club and The Cliffs Valley.
“In the wake of the cancellation of the 2020 tournament, we are ready more than ever to welcome back the players, volunteers and patrons who make this event such an integral piece of the Upstate community,” said Bob Nitto, president of South Carolina Charities, Inc. “After the impact this year has had on our tournament beneficiaries, as well as the professional journeys of our Korn Ferry Tour players, we are committed to continuing our support of the community through golf and goodwill, making 2021 a year like none other.”
Approximately 1,000 community members volunteer with the tournament each year in positions ranging from contestant services to general volunteer opportunities, both on and off the course. In years past volunteers have included regional golf enthusiasts, who return year after year, to representatives from Upstate charities, volunteering their time to raise funds for their organizations.
“The BMW Charity Pro-Am highlights the Upstate community’s dedication to volunteerism with nearly 1,000 volunteer positions being filled each year. We take great pride in our involvement with an event so focused on the wellbeing and support of the people and places that make up this community,” explains Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System CEO Bruce Holstien. “We are thrilled to have had Gibbs Cancer Center & Research Institute selected as a featured beneficiary for the 2021 tournament and look forward to strengthening our impact on the community through this incredible partnership.”
The funds raised from tournament programs, including tickets sales, volunteer hours and Birdies for Charity presented by Michelin North America, a program designed for donors to make a one-time flat donation or pledge one cent or more per birdie during the tournament, have allowed the BMW Charity Pro-Am to donate over $13.7 million in charitable funds to the tournament’s featured beneficiaries and ancillary charities in the Upstate community.
