BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina has been recognized by Forbes magazine with the America’s Best-In-State Employer Award. The recognition highlights the company’s stability, good corporate citizenship, support for professional growth and employee work/life balance.
Forbes magazine annually ranks the nation’s top 500 large employers in 25 industries based on working conditions, salary, potential for development and company image. BlueCross is the only company in South Carolina honored in the insurance industry.
“To be named by Forbes as one of America’s best-in-state is a gratifying testament to our organization’s commitment to our workforce. We place a high value on creating a positive and caring company culture and environment, which contributes to attracting and retaining outstanding talent,” said David Pankau, president and CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
He added, “Due to the pandemic, this year has been unlike any other for all of us. We have focused on ensuring a safe work environment and have implemented flexible and remote work options for 90 percent of our workforce. In response, our employees continue to maintain their high standards of work product and customer service. They make me proud every day.”
Forbes and Statista selected America’s Best-in-State Employers based on an independent survey of approximately 80,000 U.S. employees working for companies employing at least 500 people in their U.S. operations. From October 2019 to May 2020, surveys were administered using a series of online panels and providing a representative sample of the U.S. workforce. Direct and indirect employee recommendations were evaluated on a state level.
