"I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination." Those words by legendary entrepreneur and country singer Jimmy Dean ring true today, as Team South Carolina continues to adapt our approach to economic development during the COVID-19 era.

Despite the hurdles this year, South Carolina has notched several impressive wins as of late. Since June, Team S.C. announced a new Walmart distribution center in Dorchester County, a $220 million investment that will create more than 1,000 new jobs; an expansion at Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation in Lexington County, a $215.8 million investment that will create 380 new jobs; and an expansion at Ross Stores, Inc.'sdistribution operation in York County, a $68 million investment that will create 700 new jobs.

And, the pace is starting to pick up. Last week alone, Team S.C. announced five companies either establishing new or expanding their operations across the Palmetto State.

While we are still navigating COVID-19 and its challenges, we are adjusting and finding innovative ways to help our existing industry grow and recruit new companies to S.C. That ability to adjust will help lead the Palmetto State to our destination - one of continued economic success.
