Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (MBACVB) has selected MMGY Global as the media buying agency of record for 2021. MMGY Global was selected from a pool of 16 highly qualified companies through an extensive request for proposals (RFP) process.
“Our focus for this project is strategic media planning and bold, creative thinking, and our task force selected MMGY Global based on their ability to help us meet our goals and continue building on our past successes,” said Karen Riordan, MBACVB president & CEO. “MMGY Global is an industry leader with keen insight into traveler sentiment and tourism promotion, all of which will benefit our destination in the new year and beyond.”
The media buying agency will work closely with chamber staff to meet all media planning and buying, and social media management needs for Visit Myrtle Beach. MBACVB has a sophisticated marketing plan that includes air service promotion, print media, TV, radio, digital media, outdoor, group sales marketing, international marketing, search, social media and sports marketing, and a robust social media presence that requires full-time social media management.
"We have had the privilege over the past year to work hand-in-hand with the chamber and its community stakeholders to develop a new brand position for the destination," said Katie Briscoe, president, MMGY Global. "Our team is ecstatic to have now earned the responsibility to extend the brand platform to market through an integrated media and social program, driving economic strength through more visitation in a key year of recovery."
The RFP task force, which included a mix of local industry experts and chamber staff, reviewed all proposals and selected five finalists to advance to the presentation portion of the process. The finalists were given specific areas to cover, as well as projects to complete and present. Following the presentations, the task force presented MMGY Global to the entire chamber board of directors for contract approval.
The media buying RFP is one of 12 RFPs completed since 2018. The chamber uses the RFP process as a standard business practice to ensure greater transparency of the vendors who hold contracts with the chamber and CVB.
MBACVB has worked with MMGY Global since 2019 to develop a new brand position for Visit Myrtle Beach. The results of that project are expected to be released in late spring 2021 and will be integrated into the media buying program.
