A Tidelands Health nursing leader has been appointed to the statewide nursing board that administers licenses and assures the safe and competent practice of nursing in South Carolina.
Jonella Davis, associate vice president of nursing operations at Tidelands Health, was recently appointed to the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation’s Board of Nursing as the representative of the 7th Congressional District.
The 11-member board licenses qualified nurses to practice in the state, investigates complaints against nurses and promotes nursing excellence through education and practice.
“It’s an honor for me to join an elite group of professionals in South Carolina on the state board of nursing to help protect and promote a profession that is my passion and calling,” Davis said. “Certainly, during these recent times battling the COVID-19 pandemic, we are all reminded of the important and crucial role our state’s licensed nurses have in serving our communities and keeping residents healthy.”
Davis has worked in the health care field for 27 years, including 16 years in a variety of roles at Tidelands Health. She also serves as an appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center, helping hospitals nationwide achieve the Pathway to Excellence designation.
A graduate of Andrews High School in Georgetown County, Davis earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Clemson University, has a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in health care management and is board certified as an advanced nurse executive by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification.
