HGTC Follows SC Governor’s Executive Order
Staff Report From South Carolina CEO
Monday, March 16th, 2020
Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) will close the College March 16-31 based upon Governor Henry McMaster’s executive order issued to close all public schools in the State of South Carolina including state-supported technical colleges. All classes, including internships, labs, and clinicals are also cancelled during this time. On April 1, the College will transition its courses to online delivery for the duration of the spring semester. Students can look for more information from the College about the transition and how certain courses and programs will be handled in the upcoming week.
HGTC employees will not be required to report to work until April 1. As stated in the Governor’s order, this is “with the exception of those emergency or other critical personnel designated as essential, or whose presence is otherwise deemed necessary, by the appropriate school district, college, or university official.” Essential HGTC employees will be contacted by their immediate supervisors for special work and projects. Employees are encouraged to speak with their supervisors or VP should questions arise.
While the College is closed and employees are not required to report to work, access to the College will be available if necessary. Employees are expected to be alert to any messages that come forth from the College by checking HGTC email, the HGTC Coronavirus Advisory Page, and the College’s social media channels daily for any future updates.
