Clemson Young Alumni Council Presents the 2019 Roaring10 Young Alumni Awards

The Clemson Young Alumni Council has named 10 alumni to its “Roaring10,” recognizing these outstanding young alumni for their influence in business, leadership, community, education and philanthropic endeavors. The honor is given to individuals who exemplify Clemson University’s core values of honesty, integrity and respect.
The 2019 Roaring10 honorees are:
Nadia Nadim Aziz – Bachelor’s ’09 (Clemson University), J.D. ’13 (Charlotte School of Law)
Nadia Nadim Aziz of Arlington, Virginia, is the interim co-director and policy counsel for “Stop the Hate” for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in Washington, D.C. In this role, she is an advocate to strengthen the capacity of communities to combat hate, support individual victims of hate crimes and hold perpetrators of hate accountable.
Samantha Lynn Bauer – Bachelor’s ’10, Parks Recreation and Tourism Management
Samantha Bauer of Greenville is the sales and marketing manager for Zen Greenville, an elegant event space and event planning company. She serves her community by volunteering for a variety of organizations, including Serenity Place, United Way Hands on Greenville Day, Habitat for Humanity and the Harvest Hope Food Bank.
Tyler Andrew Brown – Bachelor’s ’09, Forest Resource Management, Master’s ‘10, Forest Resources
Tyler Brown of Columbia serves as the Conservation Districts program manager for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Brown is an active hunter-education instructor teaching future hunters safety and ethics. In 2013, Brown was asked to serve on the Clemson University Forestry Curriculum Reaccreditation Committee as a young alumni representative to the Society of American Foresters (SAF).
Amanda Jane “AJ” Hobbs – Bachelor’s ’14, Industrial Engineering, Master’s ’16 (Purdue University)
Amanda Jane “AJ” Hobbs of Atlanta is a consultant with Goldratt Consulting, where she analyzes operations and implements solutions based on the Theory of Constraints. In an effort to support parity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, Hobbs serves as a member of Drew Charter School’s STEAM Advisory Board and has presented at both Drew Charter School and the Carl G. Renfroe Middle School.
Harold P. Hughes – Bachelor’s ’08, Political Science and Economics, ’14, Master’s in Business Administration
Harold Hughes of Austin, Texas, is the founder and CEO of BandwagonFanClub Inc., a fan analytics company built to help teams identify and engage the fans who show up on game day. Hughes is a professional public speaker at conferences and conventions that focus on sports, analytics and blockchain technology. He currently serves as a board member for the Pi Alpha National Alumni Coalition.
Ryan D. Lee, Bachelor’s ’09, Accounting, Master’s ’12 (Medical University of South Carolina)
Ryan Lee of Roanoke, Virginia, is the chief operating officer of LewisGale Medical Center, a 506-bed hospital in Salem, Virginia. LewisGale Medical Center is a part of the HCA Healthcare system, a Fortune-100, for-profit operator of health care facilities.
Ramakrishna Podila – Ph.D. ‘11
Rama Podila of Pendleton is an assistant professor in the Clemson University physics and astronomy department. He is a tenure-track faculty member with a postdoctoral focus on biochemistry and the investigation of the physiological response to engineered nanomaterials. In his career, Podila has authored more than 60 original peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals and holds two patents on novel roll-to-roll production for nanomaterial-based supercapacitors and self-powered wireless sensors.
Dominique Jordan Sensabaugh – Bachelor’s ’12, Political Science
Dominique Sensabaugh of Charlotte is the creator and curator of Dominique Sensabaugh Lifestyle Brand, which is dedicated to motherhood, philanthropy and empowerment. She is a prolific philanthropist with a desire to inspire her peers to impact the world positively. Sensabaugh recently published Inspired V.1 where she features stories of entrepreneurs, mission-makers, fellow philanthropists and unconventional artists.
Martin Tiller – Bachelor’s ’10, Financial Management
Martin Tiller of Clemson is the business development and leader of Event Rentals of Anderson. He is also the owner and founder of Orange Property Management in Clemson. In support of the Clemson family, both of Tiller’s businesses focus on employing students and alumni. Event Rentals provides services for Clemson signature events, including the Clemmy’s, many athletic and academic banquets and, most recently, the National Championship celebrations.
Lt. Benjamin J. Winter, USN – Bachelor’s ’13, Mechanical Engineering
Ben Winter of Roanoke, Virginia, currently serves as a lieutenant in the United States Navy. He is one of the first eight sailors selected to pilot the Navy’s newest special operations undersea combat platform. He has completed three overseas deployments and led 60 sailors on seven missions vital to national security.
The 2019 Roaring10 class was honored by the Clemson Alumni Association and the Clemson Young Alumni Council at a ceremony on Oct. 11 at the Madren Conference Center on Clemson’s campus.
