Grand Opening Celebration Held for Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital

A new era of advanced rehabilitative care is beginning in Horry County.
On Friday, local leaders, health care professionals and other guests celebrated the grand opening of Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health. The state-of-the-art, 46-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital will begin serving patients Monday, May 20.
The 52,081-square-foot hospital will offer advanced inpatient rehabilitative care for patients recovering from conditions such as stroke and other neurological disorders, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, complex orthopedic conditions and cardiac conditions.
This is the second Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital in the region. A sister facility is located within Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet.
“We’re excited to expand Tideland Health Rehabilitation Hospital’s high-quality rehabilitative services to the Little River area,” said Carey Swanson, CEO of Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital. “This hospital was designed with our patients’ specific needs in mind and will help people reach milestones and find hope after experiencing a life-changing illness or injury. We look forward to welcoming our first patient.”
The ribbon-cutting celebration for the new hospital included tours of the facility and remarks from Swanson; Bruce Bailey, president and CEO, Tidelands Health; Mark Tarr, president and CEO, Encompass Health Corp.; Catherine Behanna, a former patient; and J. Edward Norris III, chairman of the Tidelands Health board of trustees.
Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital will offer a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy five days per week, round-the-clock nursing care and frequent visits by an attending physician. The hospital features 46 private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym, advanced rehabilitation technologies, an activities of daily living suite, in-house pharmacy, courtyard, dining room and dayroom areas.
“This new rehabilitation hospital is part of a continued commitment at Tidelands Health to help people live better lives through better health,” Bailey said. “Working in partnership with the team at Encompass Health, our goal is to deliver advanced rehabilitative care that helps people return to their highest level of function and mobility.”
The new hospital is located at 100 Water Grande Blvd. in Little River in the Bridgewater community of Horry County.
