Two Tidelands Health nursing assistants have earned awards for their positive attitudes and the compassionate care they provide to patients.
Mary Ann Trotter and April Nichole Johnson were recently recognized with “Caring Hearts” awards, which are granted each year to Tidelands Health team members who demonstrate extraordinary teamwork and a commitment to help patients, visitors and fellow Tidelands Health team members.
Trotter, a certified nursing assistant at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, was nominated for her enthusiasm and her efforts to encourage and support patients.
One nomination submitted on her behalf noted that she went above and beyond to make a patient smile by personally purchasing items for the individual and played a large role in providing for a needy family during Christmas.
Johnson, a nursing assistant at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, received similar praise in her nomination. One of her co-workers said Johnson embodied all of the criteria to earn the award, including having a positive attitude, being a team player and taking initiative to accomplish goals.
“April and Mary Ann embody the selfless spirit and can-do attitude of the Tidelands Health team,” said Karen Hazzard, associate vice president of nursing operations for Tidelands Health. “We are proud to honor them with these awards.”
Trotter and Johnson were among 23 Tidelands Health team members nominated for this year’s Caring Hearts awards.
