Grand Strand Health Sponsors Health Events in March

Tuesday, March 13th, 2018

Grand Strand Health will host seminars about spring allergies, skin cancer and body contouring in March. Other health events will include an American Red Cross blood drive, stop the bleed workshops and support groups. All held at HealthFinders inside Coastal Grand Mall near Dillard’s.
Spring allergy season has arrived. For many people, that can mean runny noses, itchy eyes, sneezing and congestion. On Wednesday, March 14 from 6 – 7 pm, Allergist Mark Schecker, MD, with Coastal Carolina Allergy and Asthma Associates, will discuss how you can get the relief you need and how to tell if you have a cold or allergies.
On Tuesday, March 20 from 11 am – 7 pm, there will be an American Red Cross blood drive. Blood donations help millions of patients in need. To schedule an appointment for this event please call 1-800-733-2767.
As our weather is getting warmer and you spend more time outdoors, it’s important to remember to protect your skin. It’s estimated that 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Oncologist Emily Touloukian, MD, with Coastal Cancer Center, will talk about how to keep your skin safe, identifying signs and when to see your doctor on Monday, March 26 from 6 – 7 pm.
You’re invited to meet our new Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Horatiu Muresan, MD, on Wednesday, March 28 from 6 – 7 pm. Dr. Muresan, with Grand Strand Cosmetic & Reconstructive Care, will discuss body contouring techniques including breast reduction, liposuction, body lift and stretch mark improvement procedures. “Body contouring can offer significant functional and emotional benefits for patients,” said Dr. Muresan. “I often hear enthusiastic reports from my patients of improved confidence, motivation and a more active lifestyle after these procedures.”
Did you know the most common cause of preventable trauma death in the United States is uncontrolled bleeding? “Stop the Bleed is a national campaign that teaches basic life-saving medical interventions,” said Matt Tumbleson with Grand Strand Health. “The first five minutes after severe bleeding starts are crucial in saving a life.” Join us on how to control bleeding and how you can save a life! Two workshops are scheduled: Thursday, March 29 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm and Saturday, March 31 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm.
