Tidelands Health Breast Care Program Earns Nationally Recognized Accreditation
Wednesday, January 17th, 2018
The Tidelands Health breast health program is one of only nine in South Carolina, and the only one in the region, to earn accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.
The health system’s breast health program recently earned a three-year reaccreditation from the NAPBC. The recognition is only granted to breast centers that are committed to providing the highest quality care for breast disease, according to the NAPBC. Centers undergo a rigorous evaluation of their performance and compliance with NAPBC standards.
“This accreditation demonstrates the expertise and dedication of our multidisciplinary breast care team,” said Dr. Craig Brackett III, a Tidelands Health breast cancer surgeon and medical director of the health system’s breast health program. “We strive to provide high-quality, compassionate care tailored to the individual patient’s needs.”
Receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited center means that a patient has access to:
· Comprehensive care, including a full range of state-of-the-art services
· A multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options
· Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options
· Quality breast care close to home
A breast center that achieves NAPBC accreditation has demonstrated a commitment to offer its patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease, according to the NAPBC. During the accreditation process, a breast health center must demonstrate compliance with standards established by the NAPBC for treating women who are diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease.
